Folk rock legends Fairport Convention made a welcome return to York supported by Yorkshire folk musician Roger Davis.

 The transition from support act to main act was seamless, with Roger playing along with the lads for their first song, before returning for the now traditional finale song, Meet on the Ledge. ##

You can see why this vintage group have stood the test of time; there might have been choppy waters over the years, but their ship is still in full sail, with Fairport celebrating their 50th anniversary next year. The current crew consists of Simon Nicol, who was with the band when it formed in 1967, veteran bass player Dave Pegg, Ric Sanders, Chris Leslie and Gerry Conway, all of whom are musical maestros who exude a sense of fun and mischief as they play, inspiring would-be musicians in the audience.
