IF YOU LOVE LIFE
IF YOU LOVE TRUTH IN POETRY
Wislawa opened the wounds of skies
to reveal the re-birth of
wonder.
Her words were grass growing over
battlefields
Soothing mantras for those in
need
Lines that rescued,healed,and
renewed
a world too worn by wars to know
peace.
Gentleness and vigilance.A dance between
barbed wires
Now weigh her words for the necessity
of speech among the censored
silences..
Petitions on behalf of all walking
wounded
Bandages for the broken. We never knew
her-
just her white flags signalling
surrender
to live between all walls and
bullets
seeding petal verses.We need
her,still
Only her words survive to revive
hope
when every syllable might just save
us,still..
Ms. Szymborska was a gentle and reclusive Polish poet who won
the 1996 Nobel Prize in Literature.
