It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Black people still being shot in these Un-United States

Police are armed and paid even when they murder civilians

There are more weapons owned by Americans than there are Americans

So when it comes to crisis points like El Paso,Sandy Hook,Uvalde and Half Moon Bay

Civilians either wish to ban assault weapons  and/or seek better mental health screenings

and more secure buildings..Outlawing assault weapons has already happened in Japan,Australia,New Zealand..

It has substantially reduced all casualty lists(though knifings and physical assaults have risen..

More is needed.We do not wish to die-and homicides and suicides can be lessened with fewer weapons.

How does one stop arguments?Disagreements that turn anger into bloodshed.How reduce racism/ageism/ableism?

Perhaps if each of us starts with deeper breathing/deeper listening/slower reactions to provocations.

Reducing deaths does not abolish death.Even laws do not stop 3000 vehicular homicides annually

Start with ourselves.Extend conversations of peace and prosperity to all,each ,every.

Our only real enemy- is a military culture.
