SONGLINES WON ME

IN PATAGONIA sealed the deal.

And the point of the whole journey

was the company he kept

and the stories he distilled and amplified

For he was a storyteller par excellence

Bruce conflated,inflated,deflated others versions

His mode of applied curiosity led others to travel

and to write-moleskin diaries for no-one..

But each footprint is a fingerprint on Fate

Each version of visions a songline set in air

You travel by melody and touch-You Bless Everything!

Bruce Chatwin will be remembered by all who knew him-'as an extraordinary storyteller

Those who only knew his six books may find flickering attention

For his Great Works were as yet unwritten-We will have to rely

upon Salmon Rushdie and Wim Wenders affirmations

They knew him and loved his fire that warmed them

Even ashes now,they remember-while we forget...
