Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet, is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
SETH WHITE@HEADUNTERS
January 7, 2013
you stepped off the printed page/away from the past rage
you
walked into the void where talk is an excursion around Holy
Mountain
you
exposed our lack of caring-for that man being beaten by APD outside the
venue
for
veterans withdrawing because of a lack of love/like elders and
young
made
silent and sullen ,speechless and broken because they are not seen
You
spoke to them and for them and YOU REDEEMED POETRY!
as
defense for the human race, counsel for and witnesses for
forgiveness
You
showed the stink of false religion, the soft swamp of killing
cliches
the
way words can strangle you into submission.Because you would not!
We
became braver.Out of our psychic shock shell-to tell each other
If
one wild bird with broken PTSD wings can fly-we all have wings!
And
we sang with you.The bar of empty ears.Stopped and heard you
Pain
had a name tonight. You gave each wound a bandage.Truth heals-
even
when truth seems a spear,a lance,a knife,a hurt.You spoke-
all
the wild birds on Red River heard!
