Original Yes frontman Jon Anderson is one of the many artists who’ll set sail on a new progressive-rock-themed cruise scheduled to take place this February. The Progressive Nation at Sea event will embark from Miami on February 18 and visit two Bahamian locations — Freeport and the private island of Great Stirrup Cay — before returning to port on February 22.
The cruise was co-organized by former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, and is a nautical version of the Progressive Nation multi-artist tours their old band headlined in 2008 and 2009. In addition to Anderson, the seagoing music festival’s lineup features ex-King Crimsonsinger/guitarist Adrian Belew, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, veteran power trio King’s X and a new supergroup that includes Portnoy, Sherinian, bassist Billy Sheehan and guitarist Tony MacAlpine.
