Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
HIPPIES@THE H.E.B
Forget coffee shops ,bars,saloons,pubs ,restaurants
Elder
hippies shop-and meet -in supermarkets
Not
the WHOLE PAY CHECK or CENTRAL MARKUP-
more
plebeian, proletarian cheap circus aisles stacked with comestibles
Here is where our
shopping trolleys collide-near the cat food area
We
stop and chat and chew miniature samples, causing panic in the gridlocked
shop
Relaxed
in storytelling,we catch up with tales of Folk Fests and open mikes
the
people we know, health and other human services. We tend to take our time doing
this
They
say once housewives did the very same thing.Young folk with fast phones whiz
past
We
amble and perambulate on about the times we live through to get to this moment
in time
It
has very little to do with actual consumerism. We are survivors of love and
peace
We
reassure these relics of goodwill and happiness-at least within airconditioned
supermarkups
When
food riots, famines, tornadoes, hurricanes hit-perhaps we will move slightly
faster
It
took us a long time to get here.We meet like ants, share antennae.Love and
peace?AISLE 5!CLEANUP!
