Donall Dempsey's Tribute to Daevid Allen of Gong on 11TH APR 2015

Published on Apr 12, 2015
Dónall reads two poems in tribute to Daevid Allen, the founder of the rock group Gong, who died on 13th March. His third poem, "La Belle Dame au Manteau Rouge" is a version of "Little Red Riding Hood" as told by wolves, and seems to me to owe something to Angela Carter's story "The Company of Wolves" (at least tangentially). Platform One is hosted by Ernie Burns at the Poetry Café, 22 Betterton Street, Covent Garden, London, on the second Saturday of each month, and is always a great evening.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
