April 8, 2015 – Classic rock fans will be delighted to hear that Yes and Toto are teaming up for a co-headlining tour of North America later this summer.
Both bands had hinted at the possibility of a summer tour at the NAMM industry convention earlier this year, but only now confirmed their 26 North American dates. The tour, which follows the first appearance of seventies rock heroes Toto on the Billboard 200 since 1990 with their latest album Toto XIV, starts on August 7 and will run for five weeks.
English prog rockers Yes, whose many hits included ‘Roundabout’ , ‘I’ve Seen All Good People’ and the still radio-friendly ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’, have also cause to get out on the road as next month sees the launch of Progeny: Seven Shows from Seventy-Two. This 14-disc live box set features recently discovered recordings of seven North American gigs played in 1972 when the band was at its peak and prepping for a world concert that would give them their first live album, the platinum-certified, Yessongs. The box set will be quickly followed by the band’s next CD/DVD, Like It Is, which is earmarked for a July 7 release.
Yes co-founder and bass guitarist, Chris Squire, said in a released statement, “We’re thrilled to be hitting the road with Toto. Yes have always been big fans of Toto’s music and we think our fans are going to really enjoy seeing both of us together.”
Toto founder and guitarist Steve Lukather was equally complimentary, claiming, “We are so honored to be touring with our musical heroes, Yes. This is a crazy dream come true for us and we can’t wait to do this tour and to make new friends and solidify old friendships.”
The tour starts at the Foxwoods Grand Theater in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on August 7 and concludes at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver, Coquitlam, British Columbia (the only Canadian date on the itinerary) on September 12. Presale tickets are already available with general tickets going on sale on April 10.
