Stephen Stills' New Supergroup The Rides Schedules First Tour

Stephen Stills‘ new blues-rock supergroup, The Rides, is ready to take its show on the road.  The band, which also features Kenny Wayne Shepherd and founding Electric Flag keyboardist Barry Goldberg, has announced dates for its first-ever tour.
The monthlong trek will see the group works its way across the U.S. during the late summer and early fall.  The outing gets under way with an August 28-29 stand at the famed New York City jazz club The Iridium, and is plotted out through a September 27 show at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino in Reno, Nevada.  The tour also will include stops in Boston, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Houston and San Francisco.
Opening for The Rides throughout the trek will be blues-rock singer Beth Hart, who recently performed atEric Clapton‘s Crossroads Guitar Festival and with Jeff Beck at last year’s Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Buddy Guy.
As previously reported, The Rides’ debut album, Can’t Get Enough, will be released on August 27.  The project was inspired by Stills’ 1968 Super Session album with late Electric Flag guitarist Mike Bloomfieldand Blood, Sweat & Tears keyboardist Al Kooper.  Among the tunes featured on the record are several original compositions and covers of Neil Young‘s “Rockin’ in the Free World,” Iggy and the Stooges‘ “Search and Destroy and Muddy Waters‘ “Honey Bee.”  There’s also a new rendition of “Word Game,” a Stills song that first appeared on his 1971 solo effort Stephen Stills 2.
Meanwhile, The Rides recently released an official lyric video for one of the album’s original tracks, “Don’t Want Lies,” that can be viewed online now.  The clip features footage of the band members at work in CRM Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
