THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes: "Thom the World poet, is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Toms poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!!

BRAVE NEW WORLDS (are being born)

When locked tongues break fear/unchain their melodies and harmonies

sing choruses in public spaces/with grace and flair where shadows and silence sat

now bright and brilliant ripples of silver giggles are heard in cafes independent as free speech

Assemble when and where ye will-your only leader is your film

that spools out when you least expect ,surprising every body!

Surprise yourself!Leap out beyond those borders of your pasts/dark rooms

where guilt and shame made small your name,and fame's empty bells rang hollow hurting.

We need each other to be more than before-for war is only when we retreat from the love we speak

and do not listen to the other.Hate is a waste .Anger a red blood axe.Both cut us /forests fall

when our arms can no longer cuddle all-and we become afraid.We are more!

Millions await new languages(which are the Ancient Tongues of love,respect,acceptance)

They get replaced in rust by fear and distance,until our faces become masks

and our languages become less.Kiss all distance into intimacy-until we(community

can trust ourselves enough to grow and nurture with love and kindness

a softness we may never have known till now.Do not wait!Be "bold,brave,resolute!"

The war is not with others.It camps within us,biting gossip mean and smallnesses.

Malice kills us-caring cures.Simple as flowers and forests over factories and jobs

Elegant as those birds outside cages.Wild ones-who will not come when you call.
