After a few difficult years, original Yes vocalist Jon Anderson is back touring and has booked a trip to South America for shows in September. In addition, when he goes, he’ll be bringing a special new song that he’s penned for perhaps the world’s biggest sporting event.
Vintage Vinyl reports that Anderson has written a special tribute track called ‘Brasilian Music Sound’ for the World Cup, which will be hosted by Brazil in 2014. The video for ‘Brasilian Music Sound’ was created by Victor Cristean, and can be seen below.
Anderson recently stated that he’s open for a return to Yes should the opportunity arise. The singer’s exit a few years ago coincided with health issues and the band wanting to tour even though he was unable to at the time.
Of the current status, Anderson says, “They get on with their lives, I get on with mine. There’s no point pretending we’re all mates.” Earlier this year there was talk of a tour with onetime Yes bandmates Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman, but those plans fell through. However, both Anderson and Chris Squire have both stated “the door isn’t closed” concerning his return.
