THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!!

This changes us-ADHD.Capacity to concentrate for long periods.Ability to read,comprehend,respond.

Epic poems used to be memorized.Folk music retains this skill.Audiences cannot listen .iphone for transmission.

Surveillance changes us."The watched pot never boils".Awareness of cameras (Candid Camera) alters spontaneity.

Flash Mobs ,OCCUPY and Crowdsourcing refine mass gatherings/adapting to new regulations.

FACEBOOK fundamentally changed the meaning of "friend"(to a verb.)

GOOGLE maps changed GPS./GOOGLE Earth is censored.Satellite surveillance universal.This changes protest.

Robots displace workers in repetitive functions.Yet we still need work.Leisure Societies do not work!

Privacy has disappeared,as it did in village days.Gossip is now social media postings/viral videos.

YOUTUBE changed us.Information Revolution changed us.GOOGLE and Facebook changed us.

We are changing as you read this.implants for lost dogs and Alzheimers.Matrix is real.

Who owns the cameras rules the streets.Baron Haussman was right when he made Parisian Boulevards wide for crowd control.
