Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet, is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
ART OF SURRENDER
After the Great War, punishing reparations angered folk to rise
again.
Marshall
Plans after WW2 rebuilt economies of Germany and Japan.
Korea
an expensive Armistice, still unstable and dangerous partition,
Like
that partition of Vietnam, when we inherited war from the French
and
laid napalm, Agent Orange, defoliants for future birth defects
We
lost Vietnam.Withdrew. Now we seek access to Haiphong Harbor
afraid
of the maritime interests of that Sleeping Dragon, China.
Trading
with the enemy used to mean treason.
Ford sold
cars to Hitler, Cheney traded with Saddam Hussein
Little
wars have replaced Crusades and Jihads with Fatwas
We
have already lost the war on poverty, and plastics
have
now infiltrated and subverted our waters and bodies
with
plastic islands in two oceans, swirling and solid.
The
war on poverty is lost. Buddha stands with signs and open hands
on
every street corner of every town in the land (or in jails, criminalized for
poverty)
Black
Plague made vagrancy laws - wanting every able bodied male to be
useful.
Now
the poor are priced out, dispossessed, repossessed and attacked.
This
is no Great Depression. We surrendered long ago. Fat banks rule.
Community
co-operatives know.Alternatives exist.We are they
who
do not yet surrender to Austerity-we seek Peace. We find Prosperity.
HAPPY
FIRST BIRTHDAY OCCUPY! Saturday October 6, 2012
