TONY PALMER: Brave new film

Whilst in London recently Gonzo Head Cheese - Rob Ayling called in on Tony Palmer editing his new film about Athol Fugard, The bits of the film he saw are truly amazing and so emotional they will reduce you to tears. Rob said " I haven't seen anything like this before. The film includes African National Congress (at that point a terrorist organisation) footage of Apartheid soiled South Africa which is unbelievable. I was watching people been shot down because they are black, in the wrong place at the wrong time. Living in the west at the time we knew it was bad down there, but even knowing that ahead of time didn't prepare me watching those clips and hearing Athol Fugard's first hand account of events as he saw them". The film will have a sound track contribution from long term Gonzo conspirator Troy Donockley taken from his new CD "Messages" and will close with a piece from Gorecki. This film is Palmer at his best, powerful, amazing and thought provoking. More on this film continues its progress to its premier in Cape Town.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
