Rob Ayling writes: "Thom the World poet, is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!!
Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!"
IN THE LAND OF GIANTS
Four pilgrims approached a Magical Cottage
two decades ago, one had tasted of the Sweet Irish foods
and found it to his liking. With the aid of GROUPON COUPON
they mapped their tentative path out of Austin City Limits
parked under stars on a clear Friday night
All were special (first born). All alpha personalities.
Each with a week of woes and wails to release
and Irish Gold food with Irish tea seemed a remedy
So HE OF LAW went first to explore
followed by HE OF WORD and SHE OF COUNSEL
Last (but never least) SMILING WISE sat herself down
in a table selected by/for latecomers when the Inn was full.
Warm was the bread welcome with Strawberry Butter!
Rich was the soup of Irish Potato(w/chicken!). Long the pause between courses,
refreshed via water and the lilt of Irish harp playing w/voice.
Soon-salad-fresh as gardens with special sauces.
We requested Irish tunes,so O'Carolan and Led Zeppelin,
Eagles and Willy Nelson via harp in strings and wise Irish smiling
Soon the meat of argument was plated full and warm
according to desires, so were we served. Conversation sparkled.
Bubbling laughter deserts were served in Wild Swans of Coole
W B Yeats was with us as we left, full and round and candle laughing
Once every lifetime, eating Irish is no famine
Transmigration meant we all returned to Ireland - for one night
eating our way through Dublin, Belfast, Tipperary memories,
in this barn of a bed and breakfast candlelit tipping starlit evening
