Rob Ayling writes:
"Thom the World poet, is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
HOW TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD
1.CHANGE OF LIFE SALE
My
religion is garage sales (I go for the stories-
every
object has a person behind it - so i ask -
"What
does this mean - Change Of Life Sale?"
She tells me -
"All
of us need to adjust - our attitude to gratitude
Release
and dematerialize at various times -
change
of house, husband/illness, death, despair -
I am just changing my outer world to fit in more
with
my new inner world" (she smiles - surrounded by
Feng
Shui Asian money trees she raised from $2 to $40,
river
stones (free) and customers buying her past.
I
praise her FREE box. She smiles and says - "Oh yes -
EVERYBODY
loves that!"
2.CHANGE
OF ATTITUDE
He
refuses anything that would characterize him
solely
as a consumer..He makes stories and we agree -
ACCEPTANCE
and RESPECT leads to VALUE
And
that is where austerity fails - it does not build/just cuts
and
budget cuts become emotional cuts, devaluing arts, culture, learning..
Those
who do not value creativity try to limit it to productions of
objects/
losing
the beauty of process/losing all of us who value anonymous acts of
kindness
3.ENVISIONING
ALTERNATIVES
Comfort
zones become habits fixed as police glares.
Where
you are is temporary - she repairs to the sea to replenish
Walks
with Jazz to smile more. It takes her mind from age
and
pain and endings. She nurses those who are leaving.
Feeds
them art, smiles, songs and dreaming
Drinks
in wind and oceans as she is changing woman.
