MORE ON THE ANDERSON/WAKEMAN/RABIN PROJECT

Jon Anderson

Write on: Jon Anderson

Jon Anderson says the much-discussed and long-delayed collaboration project between him, Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin is finally taking shape.

The former Yes members have several tracks written and Wakeman is in the process of making recordings.

And Anderson, who in past had been cautious about the chances of a tour, now admits it’s a possibility.

He tells CBS: “Rick’s recording as we speak. He said he’s send me some music this month or next month. Then I would send it to Trevor.

“We’d actually written a couple of songs, me and Trevor. And me and Rick have written a couple.

“If we make music that we really like, and we put it out there, we’ve got a good fanbase who wants so see us do new music.”

Yes are currently touring with new frontman Jon Davison, who joined the band earlier this year following the departure of Benoit David. He’d replaced Anderson in 2008 when the founding member was sidelined with a near-fatal illness.

If the new project is well-enough received to warrant a tour, Anderson insists it won’t be a best-of show.

He says: “I don’t think we’d want to go out just doing old music. I don’t see the point. I’d rather do new music, but of course you’d do old stuff that people want to hear. You don’t rely on that as your show – you want to take new music out there and have an adventure.”

Anderson recently became an ambassador for his hometown football team Accrington Stanley. Now that he lives in the US, he hopes soccer will take off there.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
