LEGENDARY folk band Fairport Convention will perform in Barnard Castle next year.
The group, which has been delighting fans for almost 50 years, will play at The Witham in June.
The current line-up of the band consists of founder member Simon Nichol, Dave Pegg, who joined in 1969, Ric Sanders, who has been playing with the group for the last 30 years, Chris Leslie, who joined in 1996, and drummer Gerry Conway, who has been be with the band since 1998.
The group’s performance is one of the highlights of The Witham programme for the first half of next year.

The new programme is out this week and available from the The Witham box office, showcasing a wealth of arts entertainment. With theatre, film, dance, comedy, craft markets and the Teesdale Business Awards, the range of entertainment available at The Witham over the next five months is the best yet, offering something for everyone to enjoy. Kicking off the season is The Castle Player’s touring performance of Pride and Prejudice on January 8.
