WHERE CAPTAIN BEEFHEART WAS BORN

One of the things I share with my brother-in-law Ant, (by the way he is called Antony and he is not a small hymenopterous insect) is that we both have an abiding love for the music of the late Don van Vliet (thats's Captain beefheart to you sonny). As I found out the other day, Gonzo Multimedia are soon releasing a DVD in the 'Lost Broadcasts' series which will feature the good captain, which gives me a perfect excuse to post this vignette which arrived in my in-box this morning.

It comes from Jakerock blogg: Where captain beefheart was born.

Also check THIS out. The ever wonderful John Allison tells the Captain Beefheart story in comic book form:

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
