THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet, is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearences with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)

VIRAL VERBAL VIDEOS
(w/Parkour Punctuation!)

In another(jazz)world-a stranger comes to town
Blows saxophone solos(sometimes-a Jericho trumpet
Word jazz spit spout spurt-Blow Baby Blow!
Pre-electric,acoustic as breath
Her solo was God stopping death
via lightning notes/speak!
Now,as we amplify louder(larger than life
We make smaller simultaneously-
iphone,cameraphone,digital

LEARNING FROM AIRLINES
Overbook everything
Too much is never enough
Mind motion time space
The point of the journey is to move.
YOU BETTER BE MOVING!

CHARACTER AS PLOT.(You will meet a stranger)
When Belle Starr entered the humidor/the room entered her.Red hair.Red dress.Red shoes.Well read
Whiskered smokers in deep lounge chairs were well shocked as they watched her stock their shelves
One by one they imagined themselves cigars in her hands. Some Cuban and foreign
Some home grown domestic as Tennessee tobacco plantations
Sir Walter Raleigh enters the room and stops. His broad leafed laughter erupts in the middle of their sticky voyeur session
He had costumed her as red to his green/bud to her blossom/Knight to her day
They smiled.They laughed.They walked away

I WAS A STUDENT OF DEATH.She taught me all i know
I learned that breathing is important(but only as far as it goes
And when it stops-you are on your own!

DI CH OT OM Y?
To get here,it took all i owned
I pawned,borrowed,begged and stole
Only then when I was reminded
how temporary is treasure/trauma
Did i dare hold my own emptiness
as proof of permanence.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
