CHINESE SWIMMERS AREN’T THE ONLY ONES SMASHING RECORDS

Planet Rock continued its amazing year with yet another record breaking survey and even more listeners than ever. The station's weekly reach has increased to 948,000, up an impressive 10.7% year on year (10.1% quarter on quarter).

Planet Rock’s hours are up as well… 13.8% year on year to 6,639,000 maintaining a six million plus share for the last 12 months and keeping its position as number one commercial digital only radio station.

Legendary DJ Nicky Horne and Rock Icon Alice Cooper were the highlights of a fantastic weekday result, posting record figures of 373,600 and 226,300 respectively. This was backed by record reach on Saturday afternoons and evenings with Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, Bernard Doherty and Murray J all seeing 25%+ increases year on year.

The audience profile of Planet Rock has continued to get younger with 10.7% growth in the 15 – 24 (51.2% quarter on quarter). Our target audience 25 – 54 has grown 14% year on year and 1% quarter on quarter.

Malcolm Bluemel, Planet Rock's Chairman and owner said "This is a fantastic result for all the team and proves there’s still a massive audience for great rock music. Next stop a million!”

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
