I was talking to Michael Des Barres on Facebook the other night, and I congratulated him about his latest acting role. However, I had to admit that although it appears that NCIS is the biggest TV show in the world, I had only vaguely heard of it, because I don't have a TV. That's not actually true - I have two TVs and another unplugged up in the library, but none of them are connected to the outside world (except for the one in the sitting room, and that only gets on the internet via a Nintendo device), and although Corinna, Prudence and I watch the occasional DVD or online thingy, we never actually watch TV per se, and do not have the means so to do. However, this just makes us odd! Many congratulations to Michael for his smashing news.Michael Des Barres, onetime front man for the 1970s band Detective, will once again channel his inner real-life rock star for a TV role — this time on CBS’ NCIS.
TVLine has learned exclusively that Des Barres has been tapped to play the colorful bloke we first told you about in Ask Ausiello — that of an aging has-been one-hit wonder from the late 1970s who lived hard, blew his earnings in the ’80s and has been skirting creditors ever since. The Brit musician-turned-actor is slated to appear in Season 10 Episode 3.
“This is a very fun episode and Michael Des Barres brings tremendous humor and idiosyncrasy to a character he knows oh-too-well,” NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg tells TVLine. “We really lucked out having him join us.”
