JOEY MOLLAND: RTM US review

FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 2014

The legendary band, Badfinger had a string of hit albums and singles between 1969 to 1974 while on The Beatles' Apple Records label. One of the ingredients to their success with singer/guitarist Joey Molland, who also appeared on albums for George Harrison and John Lennon. He released his first solo album in 1983 and finally returned in 2013 to release his fifth and latest solo album "Return To Memphis."

The ten tracks that make up the new album show a classic rock artist who can still produce some timeless classic rock music. He begins with the slow jaunt of "Walk Out In The Rain," which showcases his weathered voice. Molland picks up the tempo on "A Love Song," that features some great backup support on the chorus. He shows a little bit of his guitar prowess on "Ship To Mars," then explodes on the six-and-a-half minute "Got A Feeling." The album finishes up with the blues shuffle of "All I Need Is Love" and the electrifying "Still I Love You."

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
