THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

ONCE UPON A TIME,THE CIA FUNDED POETRY

Magazines and writers,conventions and "cultural agencies"

It was selective-in line with propaganda outreach values @the time

and small magazines  flourished with such support.Those days are gone..

Now CIA and FBI and NSA etc are involved in "faux  news"outlets

with Tweets pumped up by phantom sites,and articles published

on dubious websites under"Patriotic"fronts.No subsidized poetry!

Writers such as Ian Fleming and Grahame Greene

were once happy to work with MI5 and MI6 in England

and i am sure more would accept checks to support blogs and websites

if they were seen as effective in the "Culture Wars'.

In these Post-Punk days,with starving arts agencies,

perhaps writers might move from advertising products to promoting causes..

The core(of course)-is who would support them??
