Tony Hawks, pictured here with the Grossen Cheesemeister himself, Rob Ayling, seems a really nice guy. Not only is he resposible for a string of feel-good and pleasantly eccentric books and films, but Tony Hawks donated half of the royalties from his book Playing the Moldovans at Tennis to a trust fund for Moldova, which was used to open the Hippocrates Centre, a medical centre that provides rehabilitative therapy for disabled children from socially vulnerable families.
Hawks continues to support Hippocrates through fundraising and personal involvement. Rob contacted me after the charity gala thingy and asked if I could publicise the appeal. Yes of course, said I. Send your donations to:
Sort code: 40-05-30
Account No: 54226569
Account Name: GivingWorks - Tony Hawks Foundation.
It seems like a bloody good cause, and I am happy to be able to publicise it..

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?
Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
