MICHAEL DES BARRES: Renaissance Man

I met Michael Des Barres last year, after I had nominated him for the Legend Award at the Action on Film International Film Festival.

Loaded with personality and graciousness, Michael insisted that I sit at his table during the awards show. I even got to introduce Michael’s dear friend, famed indie filmmaker Allison Anders, (photo below) who presented the Legend Award to Michael.

That’s just how Michael is – inclusive and beyond awesome.

Many of you know Michael as the black sheep aristocrat (French Marquis) who married the world’s most famous groupie (Miss Pamela of the GTOs). Michael has had a diverse and prolific career in film, television, music, photography, and poetry. Acting highlights include working with Tony Curtis, Sidney Poitier, Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Gabriel Byrne, Beverly D’Angelo, Rosanna Arquette, Nastassja Kinski and Andy Garcia. A fan favorite, Michael scared TV viewers as Murdoc on the hit series “MacGyver.” Michael also played the biggest rock gig in history – Live Aid – with supergroup Power Station.
